Frequently asked

What people ask before they book.

If yours isn’t answered below, send us a message and we’ll come back to you within one working day.

01

Before you book

Is Optimal Health a medical clinic?
No. We offer wellnessservices — bloodwork, IV therapy and lifestyle consultations. We do not diagnose or prescribe. Test results are for information purposes only and are not intended for clinical diagnosis. If you need medical care, please speak to your GP or call NHS 111.
Do I need a referral?
No referral required. You book directly with us.
Who runs the clinic?
Owner-operated, in Newport, South Wales. Bloodwork samples are drawn by registered phlebotomists; IV sessions are administered by a registered nurse.
What ages do you see?
Adults only — 18+. We aren’t set up for paediatric or adolescent care.
02

Booking and payment

How do I book?
Use the booking form at optimalhealth.co.uk/book, or email hello@optimalhealth.co.uk and we’ll respond with a slot.
Do I pay anything to book?
Some appointments — such as bloodwork — take a £30 deposit at booking to hold your slot, deducted from the balance you settle in clinic on the day. Free consultations take no deposit.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule?
Just let us know at least 24 hours ahead — reply to your confirmation email or call us — and we’ll reschedule or cancel at no cost. We only ask for notice so we can offer the slot to someone else.
Do you accept card payments?
We take cash or card in clinic. Online card payment is coming soon.
03

Bloodwork

Who runs the lab analysis?
A UK partner laboratory. You see the analysed report; we provide the lifestyle context. Named on request — ask when you book.
How long do results take?
3–5 working days for Testosterone Plus and Fertility Hormones; 5–7 working days for Sports Fitness, Well Man Premier Plus, Well Woman Premier Plus and Ultimate Athlete; 7–10 working days for Allergy Complete.
Do I need to fast?
Fasting is preferred for lipid and glucose markers — 8–12 hours, water only. We’ll send a reminder the day before your appointment.
Can you interpret a panel from a different lab?
Yes — book a Bloodwork interpretation consultation (£75, 45 min). Bring the lab’s report and we’ll walk through it together. We’ll signpost to your GP for anything outside what wellness can address.
04

IV therapy

What’s in your drips?
Vitamins, minerals and electrolytes only — saline base with B-complex, vitamin C, magnesium, zinc, potassium. We do not offer NAD+, high-dose vitamin C, glutathione, or any other prescription-only or unlicensed preparation.
How long does a session take?
30–55 minutes, depending on the drip. Comfortable recliner, no clock-watching.
Is the first session different?
A brief screening conversation precedes every first session — roughly 10 minutes — so we can make sure the drip is appropriate for you. After that, returning clients go straight through.
05

Consultations

What happens in an Initial review?
60 minutes unhurried. We map your goals to a sensible plan, ask about your lifestyle, training and nutrition, and recommend which (if any) panel to run. You receive a written summary within 48 hours.
Can I do consultations remotely?
Yes — over Zoom. The initial review, follow-up and bloodwork interpretation can all be done remotely.
Do you sell supplements?
No. We don’t stock supplements and we don’t up-sell from consultations. If a brand or product is sensible for what you’re trying to do, we’ll name it — you buy it wherever you like.
06

Privacy and your data

How do you handle my health information?
Health-related data is “special category” under UK GDPR. We process it with your explicit consent only, for the purpose of providing the service you booked. Full detail in our privacy notice.
Is Optimal Health linked to Optimal Lab?
They are sibling brands under the Optimal Group umbrella. The customer records are kept completely separate — your Health account isn’t shared with Lab and vice versa.
